'Home Store' Loose Leaf Puer Tea 2004
'Home Store' Loose Leaf Puer Tea 2004 Until very recently, puer teas were not available outside of China. These legendary, ancient creations are dark, fully fermented teas with a robust, deep, earthy taste and mesmerizing aroma. They are serious teas for serious tea connoisseurs. Puer teas are famed in China for developing and improving with age. Though our Home Store Puer is not crafted from the highest quality buds and leaves like its palatial cousin, it does possess outstanding earthy aroma and vanilla highlights to its rich flavor. This tea has all of the characteristic qualities that make puer teas so addictive to the true tea connoisseur. We urge you to enjoy a rich cup of the tea favored by martial artists and traditional physicians in China. It's a big favorite with customers and the Seven Cups team alike, and it's at a really great price!

Not my favorite. High pungency that worsened as it cooled. Later infusions were milder and nicer. An ok 'every day' kind of tea, but other teas are better introductions to pu'er.

I heard or read somewhere that you should moisten the puer leaves and throw away the water to open up or awaken the flavor in the leaves. I've done that and found it made a difference in the first infusion, it wasn't as musty or pungent. I like my tea sweetened, and this tea with sugar reminds me of dried apricots.
