Red zhu ni clay is typically used to make smaller yixing pots because the clay shrinks during production. Not only does a larger pot require more of this high quality clay, but it is extremely difficult for potters to retain the body and seal without cracking the pot. In addition, zhu ni yixing pots are usually plain because of the difficulty controlling the clay. However, this lovely pot has delicate bamboo details giving the impression of wind blowing through the bamboo branches creating a feeling of peace and calm.
