Purple Shi Piao Good Fortune Yixing Teapot

175 mL

This purple yixing teapot is made into a classic shi piao, or stone dipper, shape. Its angled and smooth sides taper slightly halfway up the side where the Chinese character for good fortune, 福 (fu), is engraved into the side repeatedly. The teapot’s wide base balances on three small clay feet that keep the bottom of the teapot from directly touching a surface.

This teapot feels lightweight when held, and its form and thinner walls help circulate air while steeping tea. Its darker color, lower profile, and wider mouth, make it perfect for steeping black tea, shu puer, or medium-to-heavy roasted Wuyi rock wulongs.

While steeping, large-leaf black teas and Wuyi rock wulongs are able to fully open and release their flavor and aroma. This teapot could be used to make teas like our Shuixian (Narcissus), Chuantong Tieguanyin (Traditional Tieguanyin), and Youle Xiaoshu (Youle Young Tree). There is a built-in strainer behind the spout.
