Peaches are a traditional symbol of longevity in Chinese art, lovingly rendered here in an ornate, gnarled fruiting peach branch in a range of pinks and greens. A handful of cheerful red fruit bats flit about the branches with vivacity. The whole design is set against a background of soft white suet jade porcelain.

This style of boldly-colored, gold-painted porcelain was popular during the Qing Dynasty.
