The perfect Xishi pot you’ve been looking for. With an overall emphasis on the almost perfectly round shape, this deceptively simple yixing teapot has all the hallmarks of the Xishi style, including an “upside-down” handle and a spout so short it almost blends into the smooth body. This gives it both a large capacity and a very controlled pour. The domed lid fits seamlessly into the body of the pot, completing the circle.

Perhaps best of all, this teapot’s fine-grained Da Hong Pao clay possesses a rich deep red color that speaks for itself and needs no further adornment. With the unusually high levels of iron in this clay type, it retains heat more efficiently, making it optimal for teas that benefit from higher temperatures such as wulong and puer.

Da Hong Pao clay is a rare specific subtype of Yixing clay. Da Hong Pao clay has naturally higher levels of iron than any other type of Yixing clay. It’s known for its rich deep color and the bell-like sound it makes when tapped. Learn more about Da Hong Pao Yixing clay here.

About Yixing Clay

Yixing clay from Yixing County is prized for its high levels of iron, which holds heat and is said to improve flavor.

Unglazed Yixing clay absorbs aromas and flavors easily, and the tea you make in it seasons it over time. To keep within a similar flavor profile, most people dedicate a specific teapot for brewing just one type of tea, like rock wulong or sheng puer.

To clean, just rinse your pot off with boiling water. Avoid washing with soap.
