Bao Zhu Ganlu (Firecracker Sweet Dew)

Green Tea 2026

The first Sweet Dew harvest from Mengding Mountain, named for the festive brightness of the firecracker-laden spring holidays.

As rich and smooth as drawn butter, its downy-soft warmth bestows aromatics of mellow chestnut with green suggestions of leafy vegetables, melons, and fresh flowers.

It shows the iconic qualities of its style and origin, slightly richer and fuller in body than First Pluck Sweet Dew from neighboring Leshan, but still soft and effervescent with the newness of spring.

The first harvest of Sweet Dew from the local Mingshan #9 tea bush cultivar gowing in beloved Mengding Mountain.

We’ve named this first harvest Firecracker Sweet Dew in honor of the widespread spring festival tradition of “waking the mountain” every year in hopes of a good harvest. The mountain’s typical wake-up call includes setting off firecrackers, beating drums, shouting from the heights, and praying for blessings. This very first harvest of Mengding Ganlu is the mountain’s first answer to those prayers. The unique climate in Mengdingshan lets the tea bushes produce earlier than other regions, and this year’s harvest came in the heart of the Lunar New Year festival season—another holiday where firecrackers are a celebratory must-have. Firecracker Sweet Dew’s gentle buttery warmth is perfect for observing this season of beginnings.

Bao zhu (爆竹) or “exploding bamboo” is an old traditional name for firecrackers, which were originally made from bamboo.
