An elegant celadon gaiwan made in historic Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China. The pale blue-green color of its glaze has a soft, cool glow, similar to but distinct from the shade of plum green celadon. A design of a bluebird sitting on the branch of a fruiting lychee tree, poised to take off, decorates the exterior of the cup . The lines of the design have a subtle metallic gold reflection when faced to light. A pastoral scene befitting your spring teas, perhaps paired with lychee in the early summer. The moderately sized bowl is suitable for a wide variety of teas and brewing styles, while the piece’s extra wide saucer gives the gaiwan a stately and elevated feel.
