270 mL

An unadorned purple-brown yixing teapot made in the traditional “stone scoop” style with a very wide base, steeply angled sides, and three small rounded feet.

This large scoop style teapot has the typical wide base and is great for brewing large leaf teas or chunks of puer cakes while providing lots of room to open up. Three rounded feet keep the pot elevated above your tea table or saucer. A short spout makes it easy to control pour speed.

Although smooth to the touch, close inspection of the purple zi ni clay reveals a finely grained, speckly red-and-purple pattern to the clay, making it a warmer tone than most zi ni pots.

  • Origin: Yixing County, Jiangsu Province, China
  • Clay: Zi ni (紫泥) – Unglazed purple Yixing clay
  • Capacity: 270mL

About Yixing Clay

Yixing clay from Yixing County is prized for its high levels of iron, which holds heat and is said to improve flavor.

Unglazed Yixing clay absorbs aromas and flavors easily, and the tea you make in it seasons it over time. To keep within a similar flavor profile, most people dedicate a specific teapot for brewing just one type of tea, like rock wulong or sheng puer.

To clean, just rinse your pot off with boiling water. Avoid washing with soap.
