A small celadon gaiwan in the Longquan Kiln style with a pale blue “powder green” glaze that is jade-smooth to the touch. The lid is simply detailed with two small relief-carved koi fish swimming in a circle around the handle, one spotted red and the other spotted black.
The koi fish is a popular symbol that alludes to the legend of the little koi fish who leaped a waterfall and turned into a dragon, a powerful symbol of success and strength through hard work and perseverance.
