An elegant pale blue-green gaiwan made in historic Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province. The thick translucent green glaze is very smooth to the touch and perfectly even. A few delicate branches of bamboo are painted on one side of the bowl and lid. This style of fine glaze dates all the way back to the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). However, the shape of this gaiwan is designed after the tall Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) style gaiwans that are very easy to hold and pour. These gaiwans often have no saucer, but this one comes with a relatively flat saucer that does not obscure the cup’s distinctive shape. Capacity 180mL.
