A small wide-mouth jianzhan cup with a small base, designed after Song Dynasty (960-1279) style matcha bowls. This teacup is dappled with streaks of different colors where the glaze drips down the sides and changes color while firing in the kiln. The cup is pale golden yellow fading into brown toward the base. Each piece has a unique pattern. This particular technique of creating a mix of colors in the kiln became popular in the Qing Dynasty in the late 17th century, and requires temperatures of over 1200°C (2192°F). Capacity 110mL.
