A Ru Yao style teacup with a thick matte-soft glaze in cool white, painted with a black dragon with gray and red accents and pale blue eyes, emerging from a dark cloud, that wraps around one side of the cup. The Chinese characters to the right of the dragon translate to “Time of the Dragon.” The dragon is a highly important symbol of strength in Chinese art and culture, and was often used in antiquity to represent the emperor.

Made in the antique style of the famous lost Ru Kiln, this teacup’s distinctive thick glaze has a silken matte finish that gives it a warm, soft feel when held. This unique glaze is made with a special recipe originating in the Northern Song Dynasty. Inspired by the gentle character of moonlight, its cool, opaque white color beautifully showcases the color of any tea poured into it. Where the glaze thins at the edge and at the foot of the cup, the contrast of the underlying dark clay provides extra definition and elegance. This high-quality ceramic cup is a good size for either sharing a pot of tea or for single service.

This teacup also comes in other styles as the Ru Kiln Golden Toad Teacup, as well as four cat styles including the Cat and Persimmon, Tea Cat, Cat and Fan, and Watermelon Cat.
